Punjab Government Launches Largest Tractor Distribution Scheme for Farmers
The Punjab Government has launched the largest tractor distribution scheme in the province’s history with the aim of strengthening farmers financially and improving agricultural productivity. The initiative was formally launched under the leadership of Maryam Nawaz Sharif, marking a major step toward modernizing the agriculture sector in Punjab.
According to official information, the program is designed to help farmers become self sufficient by providing them access to tractors on subsidized and easy terms. The scheme is being implemented in multiple phases to ensure smooth distribution and wider coverage across the province.

Overview of the tractor distribution scheme
Under the initiative, a total of 20,000 tractors have already been distributed in two completed phases. These phases focused on providing tractors of different horsepower ranges to meet the needs of farmers engaged in various types of agricultural activities.
In the first phase, 10,000 tractors with 50 to 75 horsepower were distributed to farmers. The second phase involved another 10,000 tractors with 75 to 85 horsepower, and deliveries under this phase are currently in progress.

The Punjab government has offered a subsidy of Rs1 million on each high horsepower tractor under the scheme. As a result, the total subsidy allocated for high power tractors has reached Rs10 billion.

Third phase to begin in January
According to officials, the third phase of the tractor distribution scheme will begin in January. This phase will focus on the distribution of tractors with 50 to 55 horsepower, which are commonly used by small and medium scale farmers.
Application process for the upcoming phase
Applications for the third phase will be invited from mid January. Farmers interested in applying are advised to keep their documents ready and follow official announcements for registration details and eligibility criteria.

Interest free loans for larger tractors
In addition to the subsidy based tractor scheme, the Punjab government has also announced interest free loans for larger tractors ranging from 100 to 120 horsepower. These loans are being offered under the High Tech Farm Mechanization Financing Program.
The program aims to promote modern farming techniques and support large scale agricultural operations by providing farmers with access to advanced machinery without the burden of interest payments.
